I have a 1998 jeep grand cherokee and while driving my gears started to slip and the car would rev quite high before getting back in gear.Then while going up a hill i saw white smoke tailing and pulled over.There was a puddle of transmission oil on the ground.i managed to slowly drive back home.The gears seem very suspect and there is a rattling sound when i put it into reverse.What could cause this ?
