1998 Honda CRV Repair Question

I have a 1998 Honda CRV. The original radiator sprung a leak and I bought a cheap aluminum replacement one from ebay and installed it myself. Seemed easy enough - everything fit, nothing leaks...and it worked fine until the summer came. I live in Vegas &

When outside temp is hot and I drive steep or slow uphill roads... car overheats and A/C stops working.

Check the thermostat and both cooling fans if its working properly-start here

If thermostat was broken, would it only overheat during the hot months? Would it not overheat all the time?

When the thermostat is stuck closed no matter if its winter, spring, summer or fall the engine will overheat-for good measures-replace it and go from there
