If you are not able to open from inside and outside even when the lock is able to be unlocked, that would mean the door latch is bad and has to be replaced. Opening the door itself would be a challenge as you need to remove the door panel, which wont be easy with a closed door, and try to get the latch released, which might require breaking the latch ( the plastic part of latch).
