1998 Honda Accord Repair Question

Run good 1st through 4th when you down shift to make a turn the skips and acts like it wants to shut when appling gass
Engine light is on, cranks and idiles fine, standard shift runs good 1st through 4th but when you down shift to make a turn when you get back on the gas the car skips and acts like it wants to shut off
