1998 Ford Windstar Transmission

Hi, when I first put the vehicle in drive and start moving, it feels that the transmission misses a little the it kind of jerks a little from first to second gear. Can you possibly tell me what that might intel as far as fixing, or testing the problem. I'am pretty savy with automobiles and have fixed many, but if you could answer in lamens language i'm sure that I can do the the work.

Scan des and check fluid if you can if dark brown or black go right to a trans shop. I lighter brown try changing it see if that helps. But it should be scanned for codes as it may need a rebuild.
