Drive shaft
I have a 1998 ford festiva trio when going in the right direction round a bend over the speed of about 30 kms its making a loud noise kinda like rubbing or grinding i'v been told its a bearing in the drive shaft i believe that but they told me i had to get the whole lot of the drive shaft plus gear box replace as its all one sealed part this doesn't sound right to me and i need some advice before paying out 900 au to get fixed and my 86 year old grandfather uses these mechanics and if they are trying to con me i'd like to know

Get a 2nd opinion even get a 3rd opinion & see if all 3 are correct because it sounds like it could be your both of your rear bearings instead of the drive shaft.
