Transmission not working

The truck has been sitting for 4 years, just got it running. I replaced the transmission pump gasket as it was leaking. The trucks transmission work before it was replaced, now it does not work. It does not like to move backwards in neutral but move forward just fine. Could a bad or inproperly installed pump gasket cause the transmission to not work.

What you have to keep in mind is reverse uses full line pressure fowared doesnt. So a drop in pressure could cause that to happen. If it worked before the repair then your going to have to get back in there and see what went wrong.

On the transmission there would be a label with the transmission code.

The engine is a 4.6L but I know things have been changed since the heads are from an 2001 engine. The truck was a fleet truck for a roofing company.

It says trans code 4R70W but i would double check that on your transmission tag.
