Timing: chain and gears?

Does a 1997 Ford F150 XLT 8Cyl 5.4L, have a timing belt, chain or gears?

this engine has a timing chain to keep the camshafts lined up. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed. Cheers,

V8 four wheel drive automatic 150,000 miles.

Camshaft timing. Chilton's manual is showing a different diagram than how it was by almost 180 degrees. This is a Windsor 4.6. Do you have a diagram? Thanks

Depending what engine you have a small engine 2.3 ro 2.5 engine has a timing belt and the bigger engines have a timing chain.

Yes it gets pressed on. There is a special too required to do it. Here is the part number:

Ford Camshaft Replacing Adapter T65L-6306-A

I attached a picture of what the tool looks like. Keep in mind, if you get this from a dealer, it will be expensive. However, most parts stores will have one to lend or rent.

this vehicle does not have a belt or chain for timing. i need to know the positions to put the cam and crank sprocket pulleys.
