This has been going on for close to a year now, and it is quite annoying because it gets louder when I accelerate. The ticking noise doesnt stop till the vehicle is turned off, what could it be? So far I have been told timing belts or lifters. Heres a video I took of how it sounds http://youtu.be/oU0cgj8XkQ4

Thank you, I will try it out. Is there an estimate of how long MMO will take to show some improvement?

A COUPLE OF DAYS TO WEEKS

THEN AGAIN, IT MAY NOT HELP AT ALL (IT COULD BE A MECHANICAL FAILURE IN THE TAPPETS)

RUN A FULL QUART OF IT IN PLACE OF A QUART OF YOUR OIL (IN OTHER WORDS, DON'T OVERFILL YOUR RIG)

RUN IT IN THEIR UNTIL YOUR NEXT CHANGE

I RECOMMEND NOT STICKING IT IN THERE UNTIL YOU DO THIS NEXT CHANGE

THIS WILL GIVE IT MAX TIME TO CLEAN THE INTERNALS

YOU CAN RUN IT EVERY CHANGE AND IT WON'T HURT A THING

IF IT'S GONNA HELP, MOST LIKELY THIS 1ST TREATMENT WILL SHOW YOU

YOU MIGHT START SEEING A BETTERMENT, MAYBE NOT A FULL BLOWN FIX, HOPEFULLY SOON

RETURN HERE WITH GOOD NEWS

Now is it common that there is vibrations with the ticking? Or is this a mechanical problem and MMO will not work for my case?

WELL

WITH THE TICKING, THERE IS SOME SLOP IN THE VALVETRAIN (THE WHOLE REASON IT'S TICKING!)

SO LIKE WHAT'S GOING ON IS, THE LIFTER AIN'T MAKING UP THE SLACK LIKE IT SHOULD

SO THE PIECES IN THE VALVE TRAIN "TAP" TOGETHER, CAUSE THERE'S AIR SPACE IN BETWINXT THEM

'RECKON YOU UNDERSTOOD IT UP TO THAT POINT!

SO WE ALSO HAVE AIRSPACE/ GAP IN BETWINXT THE LAST PART (ROCKER ARM IN MOST CASES) AND THE VALVE, WHILE THINGS ARE IN MOTION

SO THIS MEANS "MR. VALVE(S)" AIN'T OPENING FULLY AS HE WAS DESIGNED TO DO/ AND WOULD, IF EVERYTHING WAS-A-WORKIN' RIGHT

SO THIS MEANS THAT EITHER WE AIN'T GETTING THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF AIR/ FUEL MIXTURE SUCKED IN (INTAKE VALVE)

. TT. OR MR. EXHAUST VALVE(S) AIN'T STAYING OPEN LONG ENOUGH TO GET RID OF ALL OF THE EXHAUST GAS IN THE CYLINDER

COUPLE ALL OF THIS TOGETHER RANDOMLY ON SOME OR ALL CYLINDERS IN WHICH ONE CYLINDER MAY BE CLEARING IT'S THROAT, WHILE 2 OTHERS ARE LIGHTLY WHEEZING AND COUGHING. NONE ARE QUITE HACKING YET!

WITH ALL OF THIS GOING ON WITH EVERY REVOLUTION OF THE CRANK

THIS SORTA AIN'T A PERFECTLY SMOOTH ROLLING KINDA SITUATION
.
.
.
HAVE I EVER TOLD YOU HOW WONDERFUL AND EZ TO MAINTAIN JEEP CJs ARE?

LAST PIC WAS MY 1ST ('77 CJ-5 W/ 304) BACK IN 1983, THE OTHER ONE THAT IS COLORED SIMILAR, IS MY CURRENT '77 CJ-5 W/ 258, GOT HIM IN 1991 ALONG WITH THE '46 WILLYS.I OWNED A TOTAL OF SEVEN. NUTHIN' ELSE!
