Enter your question.I have a 1998 SVT Contour, 2.5 ltr. 5 speed. You start the car and it idles perfect. If you rev it up to 2500 rpm it will stay at 2500 rpm and then kick down after about a min. It will do this at any rpm you rev to. It does the samething when you are driving. It will not kick down in between gears. It even does it in neutral. Throttle body is not sticking, changed the tps sensor, It has a new transmission, it just started doing it, it was running fine. I sprayed carb cleaner on everything, so I dont have no vacuum leaks. What is going on?

Is the check engine lit? Idle air control valve may be in fault. You may want to remove it and clean it out with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner, do the same inside the throttle body, clean the idle bypass valve port. This may help greatly before replacing this valve. Post back if check engine light is on.

Do you think that a bad o2 sensor will make it do that?

No a bad O2 sensor will not cause the symptoms you have and would have lit the check engine light.
