1998 Ford Contour Code Problems

Hi there!
My car has been running kind of rough lately and the check engine light has been on since the time of purchase.
My dad recently had to drive my car for a road trip and brought it back saying it had to be fixed. We put his code reader on and it gave us two codes:
P1383
P1131
At this point we know what the codes mean but not where we should start. If I could get some advice that would be great.

For 1131 checkfor vacuumleaks and fuel pressure with a gauge auto parts rent them. The other is the variable cam solenoid problem. It's best to have apor check this as it can be a short or a bad pcm and you dont' want to replace apcm on your onw as they need to be programmed.
