My check engine is on. So I took it to have it diagnosis and in received the troubleshooting code P0420. My vavle cover gassets need to be replaced and oil is leaking could that ge the reason that I have those codes. My oil light also blinks sometimes when I am on the brakes for a while but my oil just got changed and I checked all my fluids but in the past that light blinking indicated a bigger problem. So what could be wrong? I can also smell something burning under the hood.

The p0420 code is a catalytic converter it could be an air leak on the exhaust as well or maybe a bad O2 sensor but normally those are converter codes with your mileage it's probably the converter. The burning smell may be from the gaskets leaking and dripping on to exhaust.
