1998 Chevrolet Cavalier Repair Question

What does the ringing sound mean.
For the last couple of weeks, I starting hearing a ringing sound (it actually sounds like I am dragging jingle bells), when I am driving the car. It noise was coming and going. One day I would not hear it at all and then on and off and for the last two days, it has been constant. Help

could be the cat converter shield or the squeelers for the brakes. get it checked to verify
