Hi I was wondering what would cause a pcv hose to break. My neighbor noticed it yesterday. The hose broke where it connects to the valve cover on the left side in the back. The same coupler hose also broke on that. The break was behind the intake. I can't remove the old hose in the back where it broke. Any suggestions. The car is a 1998 Z28 Chevy Camaro. 5.7L 350 motor. Thanks.

You need to remove whatever is in the way to acess the end of the hose to remove. Take your time and remove the hose. It breaks over time and becomes brittle

Well I am getting ready to replace the valve covers so I will do that when I replace the valve cover seals. What does the pcv hose do and will it make your gas mileage terrible.

It allows the engine to breathe the crankcase.

Yes, it will mess up many functions.
