My trunk wont close, and because of that it killed my battery. Before I go buy a new battery I would like to know how to fix it so I can drive again.

If there is a lite in the trunk, disconnect the lite. If the trunk latch is electrical, take the connector loose or pull the fuse. I haven't looked at your wiring. Then use something to hold the trunk lid so it don't flop up and down. Fix the latch using this guide

Please run down this guide and report back.

The catch seems to function, but is electric, so I can't be sure. The trunk lid closes fully, and the catch moves freely. I presume this indicates an electrical failure, but don't know what part(s) to replace (or if it may be fixable as is). Thank you very much for your time.

With the trunk open press the trunk release switch and if you hear a noise, the clicking noise, then its the latch below that it goes into it, if you dont hear anything it could be the wiring, the ground wire or the switch.

Let me know.
