Put oil in car, drove about a block, then all of sudden there was a loud shotgun noise, the engine shut off and I looked back and all the oil was running out, so had it towed to the house, please help me tell me what is wrong

You know I can't tell what happened over a computer, especially when you didn't include any details. Why did you add oil? Was it already low? Did you just change the oil and filter? Was there a leak before? Have you actually looked underneath to see where the oil is coming from?

With no other information, my best guess is you changed the oil and filter and the old gasket from the oil filter stuck to the engine and got overlooked. We've all done that at some point in our careers. The old gasket doesn't get locked in by the filter so it can blow out. Usually that doesn't make any noise but it is about the only thing that will let the oil run out real fast.
