How do I get rid of message 'service required' on a Volvo S40 1997. The car has been serviced but don't know how to reset message screen

Take the vehicle to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer then reset the light. Most will do it for free. If it is noting more than an oil change light, refer to the owner's manual for directions for your specific vehicle.

Turn key to position one. Hold the trip button in. While holding the trip button turn key to position 2 with out starting it. Keep holding the trip button in and the service light should start to flash. Once it flashes, let go of the trip button and you are done. Hope this helps.
