Volkswagen Passat Starter Problem
The car will not start. Does nothing. Battery is fine. Put a new starter on it. All fuses and wiring has been checked Last person seems to think the silinoid is not engaging. But it is a new one. Could it be that the alarm system has went crazy and will not let the car start. How can we disconnect the alarm system completely? Maybe it will start them. All help is appreciated. Vicky

Possibly your alarm has and ignition shut off relay. Some has probably installed a relay in the ignition circuit and cut the igntion wire. I am assuming it is not factory.

Key in the ON position... apply power to the starter solenoid, does it start?
Standard or automatic?

Factory alarm inhibits starter... so yes, could be an alarm issue.
Bypassing is easy.
