Ive got a 1997 mercury cougar, and this morning I got into a little wreck due to icy roads, I was trying to switch lanes and my car went sideways and the front bumper of my car collided with a van parked on the side of the road opposite of the side I was driving. There was no damage done to my car just a paint scuff across the front bumper, and my liscence plate got torn off. However after the incident my brake pedal was very hard to push, very stiff, and it was perfectly normal before the incident. I tried to pull the ABS fuse to see if that might relieve the pressure from the pedal however it didnt. So I drove the car across town to my garage with the stiff brakes and the pressure didnt relieve while driving at all. So I come here in hopes that someone may have any ideas as to what the issue with the brakes may be. Any help or input is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Oh yah just a little further info I forgot to add in with my question, when pressing the brake pedal it is very hard to push, I was having to push the pedal with two feet to get my car to stop, and the brakes were very unresponsive.

Okay well after doing some investigating I happened to notice that the vacuum hose had a little plastic elbow piece to prevent a hose kink, and the little plastic elbow was broken in half, so all I needed to do was grab a new piece of hose and it was a quick easy fix, looks like I wont be needing any assistance after all.

Good fix, I was going to suggest a vacuum leak, but you beat me to it.
