1997 Mazda Protege Repair Question

-i have a 97 lx and i can't get my stabilizer link bolts to tighten down .i've used an allen wrench to hold the stud ,but it only goes so far.
The bolts will tighten to a certain extent ,but then they get so tight tha t I actually stripped the allen wrench hole in the center of the stud

Are you sure that isn't as far as they should be? Are you cross threading?
