I have a '97 GMC Sonoma (V6 Vortec) and have recently had problems starting the engine.
When I turned the key I would hear a faint click but would get no response from the starter.
After many rapid turns of the key, I would get the starter to engage. The problem went away for a while but now all I get is the the click of the relay in the glove box and nothing else.
The battery reads a solid 12 volts and the connections are tight.
Any ideas ???

There is a crank fuse. If the sound is the starter relay, my info shows under the hood, center firewall. Terminal 30 at the starter relay is hot all the time protected by a fusible link. If you use a digital multimeter across battery posts, with key in the crank position, what is the reading? The purple wire at starter solenoid S terminal goes hot with key in the crank position. Any testing make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the e-brake is set.
