Your shifter could be binding up or the shifter cable. Disconnect the cable from the shifter to see if it changes. If not the shifter is seizing up. If not the cable could be the problem.

Thank you we are going to check that out, One more question. I just changed the two front CV axles and the transmission filter and gasket. All the oil came out of the pan and I put 3 quarts of dextron 3 transmission fluid in it. When I drive forward it makes a 'wine' and its hard to put it into gear but if you force it, It will go into gear. Is my transmission about to go out or do I need to just drain some fluid out? I think I may have put to much into it but I am not sure. And does it take awhile after re-filling the transmission fluid to get through the filter? And there is anything I should about the fill lines and how to check them? Thanks SO much you have been a big help:)

Definitely check the level of fluid in it. You may not have put in enough. For most cars, your is smaller I am sure, after doing a trans service more fluid than that is required. Although in checking the specs it says only 1.6 qts needed after pane removal. Check the level first.
