1997 Ford Taurus Repair Question

Ford Taurus Shifter Problem
Can't get it out of "park". I have to start the car, turn the ignition back to aux, then put it in neutral, than restart the car in order to free up the shifter.

Check voltage and grounds for shift interlock, first.
