Won't start may be a bad ground?

1997 ford ranger won't start, fender solenoid fires but engine doesn't turn over. can be push started. replaced terminal connector and ground lead off of negative battery terminal.

Seems like the starter is bad. Did you try applying battery voltage to the starter solenoid to tst if the starter cranks?

turned out it was a bad ground off of the starter. once that was fixed it would start right up. avoided a lot of trouble
