My ac doesnt work properly

WMy 1997 Ford ranger AC is having problems I replaced the dryer pulled a vacuum and it gets cold on certain rpm and the clutch comes on and if doesn't stay on. On the high way it blows through the defrost

check for a vacuum leak or actuator problem for where the air is directed. alos you may have a problem called freeze up, like it cools for a while then goes warm then you shut it off andit cools again. the system needs to be evacuated, pumped down and recharged . pump down should be at least 30 minutes with a freon sweep and another 15 minutes after that and it should be 28" of vacuum at least. if not that high you still have a leak someplace.
