Ford mondeo automatic gear jerking at low speed high rev

Ford mondeo 97 automatic gearbox jerking in Drive when entering around the first gear at high revs (2-3), but only in first gear, all other gears are fairly smooth once I've picked up speed. Only jerks (as if the gear isn't catching soon enough) from stationary low speed

At 2 or 3 k rpm any vehicle would jerk hard when shifted into gear for an automatic.

Okay forget about the revs, I wrote the question quickly. But the car is jerking hard from stationary in first gear. After that, it's fine. There is a definite kick when changing into first gear. What could be causing this? thanks.

Is the MIL indicating?
It could be a fault with the controls, solenoids, pressure leakages or mechanical inside transmission.

Malfunction Indicator Light or the Check Engine Light.

If you engage D and transmission does not catch till 2 or 3 k rppm and then it suddenly kicks in with a hard jerk, that could be a fault with the clutches or the solenoids and testings would be necessary to determine what could be wrong.
