XLT 1997VIN E 4 L ENGINE W/1998 R55 TRANSMISSION FLYWHEEL NEED SPACER TO MAKE CONNECT TORQUE COVERTER?

1997 Ford Explorer • 150,000 miles

1998 explorer XLT vin e w/r55 automatic trans. Changed engine (1997 vin e.
trans. Torque converter won't connect (about 1/2")to flywheel without pulling torque too far forward. Does the 97engine need or should have a spacer between the flywheel and the crank end?

You sure its stabbed in correctly and not hanging up on the pilot bearing

Hmmmm-Auto could be the input shaft is not sitting correctly in the TC-
