1997 Ford Explorer Repair Question

Ford Explorer Click Problem
When i turn on the headlights the radio light, the compass and the temp guages all go out, then when i turn off all come back on.Also when i am parked and turn on heater i get a loud click under truck evey 5 to 30 seconds, is this all connected and what is the problem? thanks
