97 ford expedition electrical

Ok i just replaced the motor on my expedition. now i am having an issue with a possible short, draining my battery while driving, usually kills the battery right after i push the brake or turn on the lights, the problem seems to be happen randomly but when it happens the gauges go out from left to right starting with the volt meter ending with the tach. i have replaced the alternator in hope that it was shorted out it tested fine though. any ideas where i should start looking

Did you test the alternator on the car the new one you put on?I suspect you have a charging issue.
