I have a 97 Dodge Ram really slugish when gas is mashed andcan hear air if easey on gas not as bad

Just boght truck hesatats when gas is mashed and slight poping sound when od is off not as bad

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? You may be able to check some codes yourself, by cycling the ignition switch. You turn the key till the dash lites come on, no further. Cycle the key, on--off, on--off, on.

Then the mil starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. Your looking for two digit codes. Let us know what you find.
