My 97 Silverado with 16800 miles on it makes a klunking sound while driving. It almost seems like maybe something with the driveshaft but seems to be coming from the front left, maybe. It sounds like a rotating klunking sound but stops as soon as I touch the brakes.I've taken it to 2 different mechanics so far with no luck. Since it stops when the brakes are applied it seems like it would be something to do with one of the hubs.I also was thinking possibly ujoint!
Any info is greatly appreciated.

You have CV joints up front, but regardless, those and u-joints aren't affected by braking but the calipers are. Often brake pads work loose and rattle until the brakes are applied lightly but they make a rather high-pitched clinking type of rattle. You also have to consider control arm bushings along with the common ball joints and tie rod ends. The mechanics at a tire and alignment shop will be able to identify the cause.
