1997 Chevrolet Silverado Front differential

Theres a rotten hose hanging from driver side top of differential appears to look like a vacuum hose. Is this a vacuum hose and where should it run to? Or is this some type of oil pressure line? Never saw it till I removed the differential from the truck.

There's a rubber brake hose near the center section. You'll know it if that's leaking of disconnected. Besides that, there a rubber hose hooked to the vent to keep water out. That hose has a filter, and it gets clipped to the body or frame up high. Other than that, it doesn't connect to anything.
