I have a 97 k 1500 z71 5.7l vortec hooked to a 4L60e it has a lot of aftermarket work done on it my prob is with the tranny I have strong rev and first only on rare occasion the rest of the gears tend to slip on occasion or get stuck in third causing me to lose almost all take off I dont have a lot of money and tranny shops are asking a lot for my budget just to look at it ive taken it to one mechanic which cost me $350 to look at it and he said it was a fuel pump agianst my better judgement I listened to him and replaced the fuel pump all filters and flushed the tank still not fixing the problem buddys tell me the tranny needs to be replaced that it is going out but ive done some reading and everything ive read is that the first sign of a tranny going out is you lose rev if there is anything someone can tell me to help please do I dont wanna go broke trying to get this prob fixed and mechanics around here only look at there pocket books I know ive worked for some and quit because of that please help

First check your fluid to see if it's brown or black, if black the trans is toast, if brown it stil may be repaired. Scan for codes to see if you get anything on that you may need a trasn shop to do that but it sounds as if it's a valvebody/internal clutch problem. You cold also have a cracked case internally.
