1997 Chevrolet Lumina Transmission want change out

When driving the car the transmission want change out look like it take of in high gear the transmission have been doing ok it start doing this all at once the fluid and filter have been change that didn't help what could be the cause?

Have a trans guy scan it for codes may be time for a rebuild as well

I have codes reader can I use it to scan for codes?

Yes but it will give you 700 series codes and you won't know what it means, it may be a shift valve but if the trans is shot then it would read that because the valve works but won't shift. That is why you have a trans guy do it. But try if you like and give us the code.
