Broken oil sump - engine wont start

I hit my oil sump quite hard on a curb causing it to brake pretty bad. the car (audi a3 97) shut off a few seconds after this. i replaced the oil sump and now the engine doesnt start. it tries to turn but there is a loud squeal possibly from the crankshaft pulley? ..i dont think the engine is sezied because the crankshaft pulley does turn (very little).... any ideas what is causing the problem?? any help much appreciated.

You probably bent the crankshaft-try turning the crankshaft manually if its binding internally
