The battery light came on while waiting, for 20min, to get onto the freeway. The mechanic tested to charge and said it was to low, therefore alternator need replacing. The battery was replaced less than 12 months ago. Can I do this job myself? Have done brakes, and do maintenance on the my cars, even replaced the auto transmission on my XB ford. Cant get my hands on a manual. Would appreciate step by step instructions. Thanks Mal

Un do battery pos cable, locate alternator and remove main terminal wire and plug fron rear of alternator. Undo top adjuster bolt and lower mounting bolt that attaches alternator to bracket and remove alternator. To re fit is reverse procedure and adjust belt tension, do not over tighten at his can damage alternator bearings.
