Why won't my car start?

Today as I was driving, power to the car suddenly started flickering, I pulled over and put it in park; it died instantly. Tried to start it, wouldn't turn over at all. No power to the lights in the dash, wipers, radio, or horn; but the parking lights and hazards still work fine. Ignition still chimes when key is left in and door is open. When I called AAA to have it towed, the key would turn but transmission is locked up and couldn't put it into neutral.Battery is not weak, had all spark plugs and wires replaced 4 months ago when I had the timing belt replaced.

Start by having the battery and alternator checked. The battery could be week. It may have voltage to power some lights but can't suply curent to the starter. Also have all fuses and fuse links checked thay looke like large fuses.
