Is my engine an interference motor? My car was running fine then all of a sudden the temp gage went all the way to red then smoked a little the car immediately shut off won't start. Just winds up

Yes both 2.0L single and dual overhead cams are. It may have blown a head gasket and unless a belt broke wold be the reason it winds up but valves would be bent.

See if timing belt broke and if you want to fix it if you do then pull head, fix valves while there, replace head gasket and get a timing belt kit and replace what comes with it. If you want to sink the money into it.
