I just bought my daughter this car and I looked under the hood & found engine oil in the coolant. What does this mean? Also when I checked the oil it registers half way up the dipstick & the coolant. Overflow is empty except at the very bottom where I see the oil is mixed in with the coolant.

I m not a professional mechanic but in my opinion it could be a blown head gasket or leaky transmission fluid. Check the transmission fluid level

Greetings,

The most likely cause of engine oil leaking into the coolant is a faulty head gasket or a cracked head. However, this may aslo be caused by bad intake gasket. The best place to start diagnosing this issue is with a pressure test on the cooling system.
