Heating fan is coming on too often and temp gage drops and then I get very little heat. I replaced thermostat.

Check the thermostat again, then check the heater core, heater control valve and air blend door-

You would have to verify the actual engine temperature with an infrared thermometer but you probably have a plugged up heater core

Step 1 - A heater cannot operate unless the engine is full of coolant/antifreeze. If coolant level is low check the system for leaks.
