1996 Lexus ES 300 Help!

The car is backfire and sputtering won't stay started sometimes. Pulled the catalytic converter off and it's till sputtering and backfire and if I give it to much gases she will act like she about to cut of n if I put her in drive sometimes she won't move she just cuts off and I'd have to start her back up.
