1996 Ford F-150 Repair Question

My 96 F-150 truck starts but soon as i put it in gear there is a grinding sound and motor dies
Motor ruins a little ruff but starts the grinding sound comes from under neath by the transmission

I would be getting the transmission checked out ASAP. something is destroying itself in the trans.
