1996 Ford Explorer Repair Question

Ford Explorer Coolant Problem
What could be the problem if the temp rises almost to the red zone,then falls back slightly.I put a new radiator in and coolant.?It only does it at driving conditions,set and idle in park it does'nt rise.

Try bleeding the cooling system and check/test the engine coolant temperatrue sensor and thermostat-start here
