1996 Ford Explorer Could Temp Rises Almost Red Zone Falls Back

what could be the problem if the temp rises almost to the red zone,then falls back slightly.I put a new radiator in and coolant.?It only does it at driving conditions,set and idle in park it does'nt rise.
