1996 Dodge Van Repair Question

Dodge Van Engine Problem
The oil light on my 96 dodge van will come on while driving, and the pressure drops to zero. what can I try short of dropping the oil pan to correct this? If I shut off the engine and restart it the problem stops for a short while.

have the pressure checked manually first.
could be a clogged pick up screen from sludge from lack of maintenance/ could be failed pump or bad bearings.
