thermostat leak?

It is leaking engine coolant from a piece that has a crack. The piece is located right in front of the engine. What is this piece?

Hello,

That is the thermostat housing. Typically the leak comes from a faulty gasket on those housings.
You can take that housing off simply by taking those mounting bolts off. You will only need simple hand tool.

Remember to only work on the cooling system when the engine is cool.
