1996 Chrysler Sebring Repair Question

Correct battery
I recently took my 96 chrysler sebring to a chrysler mechanic
because the car was cutting off at various times. he put a scanner on it. the codes said it was a problem with the battery.
he told me that the car takes a certain battery made for that car.the battery thats in there is not the original.is that true that
it takes a battery made for that car?

I have never heard of a certain battery not in there setting codes.you should have the correct group size battery inthere though.What is the battery number you have in the car?Also what are the exact code numbers you have not code descriptions?
