I have a 96 Chevy 3/4 ton with the 5.7 Ltr in it. I turn the key and it turns over but doesn't even attempt to Fire. I checked the fuel and I'm getting 55 psi so I eliminated that. It seems to happen more when it rains. Could it be my distributor or does that motor have a coil that could be malfunctioning?

If you have the spider fuel system, key on engine off, 55 psi may be too low. Should be 60--66 psi, key on engine off. After the vehicle starts, it will run on less pressure. You could try a little starter fluid in the intake. There are safety issues using starter fluid. Safety is your responsibility.

Do you have spark at the plugs? Do you have injector pulse?

I don't have any spark that I can tell. I tried starting fluid and still no fire. The spark plugs wires and rotor cap are 4 months old. The engine ran fine when I parked. The next day it would fire. Turned over just fine but thats all it did.

How do you know, you don't have any spark? Did you visually check for spark at the plugs? You can take a spark plug wire loose, use a known good spark plug or spark tester in the boot. Ground metal part of tester to metal part of engine, watch for spark engine cranking. Let us know about spark.

I think your fuel pressure is too low.

If no spark, check for primary voltage at the coil, pink wire, goes hot when you turn on the key. Voltage comes from ecm 1 fuse, underhood fuse block. Your distributor cap--rotor--coil wire all ok?
