When the car sits overnight it will start fine in the morning if you drive it for a while and it sits for a little bit and you go back to drive it you have to push the gas pedal in for it to start and when it does start it will chug and surge and smoke until it clears out.

Probable causes of an engine running rich are as follows:

1. Excessive fuel pressure can be cause by restricted fuel return line

2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.

3. Leaking injectors and fuel pressure regulator.

4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.

5. Restricted air intake system.
