What causes the trnsmission to lock

The tranny will go in gear but the drive whell won't rotate

Check the drive axle to make sure nothing is obstructing it.

If you lift the front end off the ground the wheels will turn by hand in netural. But when u put it in gear; it engage but the drive axle won't move

It sounds like an internal problem with spider gears. If they turn in neutral, something has come apart inside.
