1995 Volvo 960 Repair Question
Mileage: 164,500 miles.
I have a which starts and runs but shut off, what could it be?
Answer
Have it scanned for codes. And check the fuel pressure.
the 95 will not be scanable it uses the early volvo diagnostic with pins, next to the front left strut , remove the cap labeled A and connect jumper to pin 2 turn the ignition on then press the button and count the flashes and give us those details it will flash codes in a 3 sequence 1-1-1=Ok everything leads to a code common one is 2-1-2 lamda ( o2 ) just make sure key is off when plugging and unplugging that jumper wire !
the other possibility is camshaft Position sensor or crank position sensor ...
let us know what you find
Possible causes:
Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel pump
Fuel pump relay
ASD relay
cam sensor
crank sensor
also check too your system may use two fuel pumps .. there are a few 960s out there that use a high pressure low pressure set up ..
